We will meet at the indicated time in the Plaza Mayor of Ourense, together with a guide in Spanish, you will travel to the past and you will be able to see the hidden side of the city: How it was lived, what jobs were typical and dark legends. Do you dare? Let’s start!
The visit will begin with the story of the werewolf, perhaps one of the best known in the entire province since the events that we will narrate happened in different locations, then we will go to the church of Santa María Nai, where the important thing will not be the beautiful architecture it has, but rather that it is the patron saint of the most important and predominant trades in the city in the last century.
Do you know which one it is?
We will go to the most central area to reach the “Wine Zone” of Ourense, Calle de la Paz and Plaza del Hierro, currently known for being the tapas area, but which in the past were related to other prominent trades in the city.
We will skirt the Cathedral to learn about the town’s most famous legend. Could it be that our Christ’s hair grows? We’ll find out! After this we will continue to the Los Cardóniga house, the Boys’ Circus Museum and we will finish in Las Burgas.
Perhaps you know that they are sources of thermal water and that in the city we have many of these hot springs, but we have to discover, in this case, the magic behind it, from numerous legends to justify the origin of the waters to meeting mythological beings characteristic of the area.
